Enrollment can be completed online or by submitting an enrollment packet in person or by mail. To get started, visit the Enrollment Services page to determine which forms you need based on your situation (new, returning, open enrollment, magnet school, etc.). Required documents include proof of residency, your child’s birth certificate, and immunization records.

Families need to provide a proof of residency, the child’s birth certificate or passport, and up-to-date immunization records. Kindergarten students also require Early Childhood Screening.

If a certified birth certificate is unavailable, other documents such as a non-certified birth certificate, immunization records, hospital or doctor records, baptismal certificate, military records, prior school records, or other legal documents may be accepted.

• Preschool: 3 years old on or before Sept. 1

• Prekindergarten: 4 years old on or before Sept. 1

• Kindergarten: 5 years old on or before Sept. 1

This tool provides information based on current attendance boundaries, which are set to change starting in the 2026–27 school year. Yes, families residing outside the district can apply to attend Osseo Area Schools through the open enrollment process.  To apply, submit the Open Enrollment Application to the Enrollment Center at 7051 Brooklyn Blvd., Brooklyn Center, MN 55429. You can also email it to EnrollmentCenter@district279.org or fax it to 763-585-7368. For more information and to access the application, visit the Open Enrollment & In-District Transfers page.

• Some schools, such as Aspen Ridge Elementary, Fernbrook Elementary, Maple Grove Middle and Maple Grove Senior High, are not accepting open enrollment applications due to capacity.
• In-district transfer is temporarily paused at the elementary and middle school levels until 2027 because of the attendance boundary change process. This is in accordance with school board procedure. Further details are at district279.org/boundaries.

If a student is returning within the same school year contact the Enrollment Center to confirm if any new paperwork is needed. The Enrollment Center will provide specific guidance.

To enroll a student returning from another district, submit a completed enrollment packet and required documents (proof of residency, immunization records) to the Enrollment Center. Once enrolled, Osseo Area Schools will request transcripts and records from the previous school to ensure a smooth transition.

Update your address by logging into your ParentVUE account completing the Change of Address form with proof of your new address on the Other Important Resources page or visiting the Enrollment Center in person.

Starting January 2025, families approved through open enrollment won’t need to reapply annually, students will promote each year with their peers.

If you live with a parent or guardian, they must complete the enrollment process. Contact the Enrollment Center for help if your situation is different.

In-district transfers are temporarily paused for elementary and middle school students through the 2026–27 school year due to the district’s Attendance Boundary Change process. This pause allows for a smooth transition as school boundaries are updated to better serve students and balance enrollment across schools.

High school in-district transfer requests may still be submitted and will be reviewed based on space availability. Families can complete the request form on the In-District Transfer page.

There are many Early Childhood and Pre-K program options available. Visit the Early Childhood Programs page to explore all available options.

Children must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1 of the school year in which they plan to enroll.

To attend school in Osseo Area Schools, students must have proof of required vaccinations, as Minnesota law mandates immunizations for school enrollment.

Yes. Submit a signed medical exemption from a provider or a notarized statement of conscientious objection. Forms and notary services are available at the Enrollment Center.

No. Your child remains enrolled in their current school until a transfer is approved and finalized.

Transportation is not provided for open enrolled or in-district transfer students. For details, visit the Transportation page.

Yes, for families who live within the Northwest Suburban Integration School District (NWSISD) consortium area. Transportation is provided for:

• Elementary students living 0.8 miles or farther

• Secondary students living 1 mile or farther

• Pre-K–8: Based on birthdate

• High school: Based on a combination of birthdate and/or academic transcripts from the student’s previous country
